Oman is the Arabian Peninsula's most promising surf destination. The Dhofar region in the south catches Indian Ocean and Arabian Sea swells that produce quality beach breaks and point breaks, particularly during the Khareef monsoon season from June through September. The area around Salalah has consistent surf and an established but small local surf community. The Al Batinah coast north of Muscat picks up cyclone swells and winter groundswells. Water temperatures are warm, between 24C and 30C, and the coastline is long, varied, and largely unexplored. Oman combines genuine surf potential with dramatic desert landscapes, ancient forts, and a welcoming culture that makes it one of the most intriguing surf frontiers in the world.
