Mozambique's 2,500-kilometer Indian Ocean coastline is one of Africa's great surf frontiers. Tofo and Praia do Tofo in the south have become the main surf hub, with long point breaks and beach breaks catching consistent southeast swells. The coast around Inhambane province offers multiple quality setups, and further north the coastline remains almost completely unexplored by surfers. The best season runs from April through September when powerful groundswells arrive from the Southern Ocean. Water temperatures are warm, between 24C and 28C, and the marine life is extraordinary, with whale sharks, manta rays, and dolphins regularly seen from the lineup. Mozambique offers raw, authentic surf adventure in a country of stunning natural beauty.
