India's vast coastline stretches over 7,500 kilometers and remains one of the world's great untapped surf frontiers. Kerala on the southwest coast catches Arabian Sea swells during the monsoon season from June through September, with beach breaks around Varkala and Kovalam. Karnataka further north hosts Mantra Surf Club near Mulki, India's first surf school, with consistent beach breaks. The east coast catches Bay of Bengal swells during the northeast monsoon. Andaman and Nicobar Islands hold world-class reef potential that is barely explored. Water temperatures are warm everywhere, between 25C and 30C. India offers surfing at its most raw and authentic, combined with a cultural richness that no other surf destination can match.
