Cyprus is an eastern Mediterranean island that catches more swell than you might expect. The south and west coasts are exposed to swells generated by deep low-pressure systems tracking across the Mediterranean, producing rideable beach breaks and occasional reef setups during autumn and winter. Paramali, Lady's Mile, and Paphos area are among the more consistent spots. Water temperatures are pleasant year-round, between 17C and 28C, and the lineups are virtually empty. Surfing in Cyprus is a frontier experience, best suited to surfers who enjoy the hunt for waves and appreciate the cultural richness of an island that has been at the crossroads of civilizations for thousands of years.
