The US Virgin Islands, comprising St. Thomas, St. Croix, and St. John, catch seasonal surf primarily from November through April when North Atlantic swells push into the Caribbean. St. Croix's north shore offers the most consistent surf, with reef breaks producing clean, powerful waves along a dramatic coastline. Hull Bay on St. Thomas also catches north swells and hosts the annual Hull Bay Surf Invitational. Water temperatures stay between 26-29C year-round. As a US territory, the USVI requires no passport for American travelers, and the islands' duty-free shopping, excellent snorkeling, Caribbean-American culture, and historical Danish colonial architecture add plenty of appeal beyond the waves.
